Guard means protecting. Goods Guard protect the lives and goods of the running train. This is no military job. Safety can be done in many ways. If their is any probability of upcoming faults then confirming the truth about it, and solving the problem is also a way of protection against unwanted accident. The guard of a mail train counts the total number of boggies in the train and check various documents. He also observes all the boggies from the point of safety. Goods Guard also plays a very important role in keeping the train in the right time and place. If there seems to be something wrong during the trip, then goods guard also tries to solve the problem together with LP/ALP. It is assumed that the job of a guard is risky, that's why only the Male Candidate should apply for this post. However, in today's time female candidates have started applying. Initially goods guard perform their job in mail trains after which they get to work in passengers train. Career path of GG are mentioned below.
